After a 24-year long international engineering career, Michael saw the perfect opportunity to pursue his passion for cooking by enrolling in the French Culinary Institute and learning from the iconic chef, Jacques Pépin. Upon graduating, he partnered with his wife to open an authentic Mediterranean restaurant in their town of Ridgewood, NJ. Over the next 16 years, with Michael as its executive chef, Mediterraneo delighted guests with authentic cuisine and introduced a culture of Tapas to the region, becoming the definitive destination for Mediterranean dining in North Jersey. Critically acclaimed as the best in the county, even drawing in food connoisseurs from the neighboring New York City.


Daniel Velicu

Witnessing his father's ambitious entry into the restaurant world, Daniel was inspired to enroll in the top Culinary & Hospitality University. While balancing his studies with multiple jobs in Restaurants, Bars & Nightclubs, Daniel's love for the industry was forever embedded in him. Upon graduating, he gained employment at the world's most iconic Hotel, The Waldorf-Astoria New York, where he continued his education learning from the industries' best operators. From there, Daniel moved across Manhattan to take on a new Hilton Hotel project that included Maze Restaurant managed by the Gordon Ramsey Restaurant group. Ultimately this led to him joining Hilton's Regional Team as Director of Task Force for the Americas.
